Dirt Sunrise: Living in a poptop 80 Series

Beitrag von DirtSunrise »

My wife and I have been on the road for the last year and a half so far through Central and South America.
We've been posting videos of our travels each week and I can post them here if anyone would like to watch, but I don't want to be too much of a self promoter.
Here's the truck. We cut the roof off of it and redid the interior just before we left, but we've had the truck for many years before:

The interior, but of course it's filled with junk now:

Here is a walkthrough of the truck:

We do a video each week, but I don't want to spam the forum so if I should stop posting I will.
Here is our 65th episode. This week we're in Ecuador and stuck at our camp in some mud which requires some effort to get out of.

Thanks Flo!

This week we head south into Peru where the border guards are listening to Metallica. Haha.

The last few days of camping has been reminding us a lot of Arizona.

This week we explore some lonely shelf roads and wait hours for construction to be complete on some not so lonely roads! Viva Peru!

This week we keep exploring Peru, but nearly burn down the truck when a wire we ran to the back of our truck wears through the sheathing and arcs onto our brake line. Always exciting!

Now for something completely different. Ride along with us for an hour. No cuts or edits, just Goose, Kelsey and I (Timoteo) crossing a mountain pass in Peru that the locals told us was no longer drivable.
We weren't sure it would be doable, but in the end it was the prettiest track of the trip!.

Did you mount the dashcam on a gimbal?

Always good to see that some rules are international and the co has to step out for rock rolling and other work that needs to be done. 8) :D
Did you mount a long range gas tank and if so what brand, i am thinking to put one under my 80 but dislike the high priced australian tanks. (Thought about a usual van or pickup truck tank.)

Thanks for your videos and allowing us to be part of your travels! 8)

I'm a lucky guy. We're interchangeable whether we're winching, driving or "improving the trail" haha!
We built our own. There should be a video on it on our channel. Basically it's an 18+ gallon box where the spare tire once went using an Australian dual filler neck.
